Becoming a Cardmarket Seller: A Beginner's Guide

Last updated:

You sell cards now and then and are thinking about listing on Cardmarket regularly? This guide puts the steps in order. Binding rules, fees, requirements and seller status are set by Cardmarket. We deliberately make no statements on these and point to the Cardmarket help center instead.

What you need to settle with Cardmarket itself

Read up on these points directly at Cardmarket before you create your first listing:

  • Account and seller access: how you get enabled as a seller and whether requirements apply.
  • Fees and payout: which costs arise with a sale and how you receive your money.
  • Seller status and ratings: how they come about and what they mean for you.
  • Shipping and packaging: which requirements apply to shipping.
  • Condition definitions: what Cardmarket means by each condition grade.

Taxes and legal

When sales count as commercial, and how VAT and business registration are handled, depends on your individual situation and your country. We do not give legal or tax advice. Talk to a tax advisor or your local tax office before you start selling regularly.

Grading condition

Cardmarket uses seven condition grades. Lumex Pro uses the same abbreviations and names:

AbbreviationName
MTMint
NMNear Mint
EXExcellent
GDGood
LPLight Played
PLPlayed
POPoor

Describe the condition as you can verify it on the card. How Cardmarket defines each grade exactly is in the Cardmarket help center.

Setting prices

Look at current listings for the same card in the same condition on Cardmarket. In Lumex Pro you set the price per card in staging. When you export from the Listing area, you can also pick a pricing rule that is applied to the prices.

From single sales to an inventory

Single cards are easiest to list directly on Cardmarket. Once your inventory grows, a fixed routine pays off:

  1. Scan and review cards.
  2. Set condition, language and price in staging and approve the cards.
  3. Export a file for Cardmarket.

Which files Lumex Pro creates and how they are built is covered in the guide Cardmarket CSV Export. The home page shows how scan, staging and export fit together, and plans are on the pricing page.
